How to Join CIP4

Thank you for showing interest in CIP4 membership.

The goal of CIP4 is to encourage the computer based integration of all processes that have to be considered in enterprises of the graphic arts industry. The specification of standards like the Job Definition Format (JDF) seems to be appropriate to reach this goal. The vision behind the CIP4 initiative is to apply the concepts of "Computer Integrated Manufacturing" to the production of print and other media.

The organizational structure of CIP4 is defined by the CIP4 By-laws. Please also carefully read the CIP4 Membership Regulations and the CIP4 Intellectual Property (IP) Policy.

CIP4 offers three different classes of membership:

  • Partner Member
This membership class is directed to companies that want to have large influence on the developments within CIP4. Partner Members have the right
    • to become automatically a member of the Advisory Board
    • to use the CIP4 Compliance Testing Procedure for their products
    • to have access to all information and Draft Specifications of CIP4
    • to apply for participation in all committees of CIP4
    • to use the CIP4 Member logo.
Membership fee: US$ 15,000 per year

  • Full Member
    Full Members have the right
    • to elect one representative of their class of membership for every two Partner members as representatives in the Advisory Board
    • to use the CIP4 Compliance Testing Procedure for their products
    • to have access to all non-confidential information and Draft Specifications of CIP4
    • to apply for participation in all committees of CIP4
    • to use the CIP4 Member logo.
Membership fee: US$ 3,000 per year

  • Associate Member
This membership class is directed to private persons, research or educational institutions, end users, consultants, and other organizations. A vendor company cannot become an Associate Member. Associate Members have the right
    • to elect one representative of their class of membership for every four Partner members as representatives in the Advisory Board
    • to have access to all non-confidential information and Draft Specifications of CIP4
    • to apply for participation in all committees of CIP4
    • to use the CIP4 Member logo.
Membership fee: US$ 150 per year

Furthermore, each partner participating must bear his own internal costs, e.g. for personnel, travel, development, implementation costs and other expenses. He is free to terminate his participation in CIP4, but without the right to claim reimbursement of the "membership fee" or any other costs.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to join CIP4 and participate in the continued development and promotion of the CIP4 initiative. Should you have any other questions regarding the above mentioned proposals, please contact the CIP4 Advisory Board.

Please make sure you have read the following documents before you fill in the CIP4 Membership Application Form:

If you wish to become a CIP4 member, please first answer a few simple questions. This will lead you to the CIP4 Membership Application Form.
