For those of you who were at drupa 2012, it was a very successful program for CIP4 and its members. In this edition of the JDF Bulletin there are some news and reviews from drupa, but I would like to personally congratulate Koen Van de Poel of Agfa on his CIP4 Fellowship award. Koen is one of the longest serving members of the group of volunteers that work very hard on the JDF specification and ICS documents, to the benefit of the entire membership. The award is well deserved. The CIPPI Awards program at drupa was well attended and well covered in the international press, and I also would like to extend my congratulations to the winning printers and their supporting vendors.
However, drupa is over and we have business to attend to! You’ll see the announcement for work on JDF 1.5 below and your involvement in technical working groups will be a key factor to getting that work done on time. We also have scheduled the Fall 2012 Interop for Tokyo. Meeting and travel information is on the CIP4 WIKI, and I encourage you to make your plans to join us at the Interop. And finally, the CIP4 Advisory Board elections close on June 25th. If you are a primary representative of a full or associate level member company, please make sure to complete your ballot.

CIP4 Members Share the Print Automation Spotlight at drupa

Over 90 CIP4 members exhibited at drupa 2012! Ranging from large to small companies, and hailing from all corners of the world, CIP4 members were there in force to demonstrate JDF-enabled print automation solutions. The drupa innovation park (dip) was a featured program at drupa, and included the Print Automation Park which was hosted by CIP4 with nine CIP4 members exhibiting their very latest print automation solutions.

Two winners of the 2012 Jürgen Schönhut Memorial CIP4 International Print Production Innovation (CIPPI) Awards, Ingo Nowak of Druckerei Köller + Nowak GmbH (Germany) and Aude Martin of Imprimerie Rochelaise (France) presented their case studies in the "Production Automation Stories" seminar held at drupa. >

CIP4’s Jim Harvey Sums Up 14 Days
of drupa

In a video-taped interview with Sandra Winter, Jim Harvey recaps all the highlights of drupa automation park activity, and cites several key trends that are emerging among printers who embrace JDF-enabled solutions.In speaking with exhibiting CIP4 members, Harvey found that printers came to drupa 2012 on a mission, and knew what they wanted in the way of gaining efficiencies with print automation. >

CIP4 Presents Fellowship to Koen Van de Poel

In a surprise announcement on the drupa innovation park stage at drupa, CIP4 awarded a CIP4 Fellowship to Koen Van de Poel, Technology Manager at AGFA. As a CIP4 Fellow, Koen has been granted a life-long membership in CIP4. Koen has served as the Chair of the CIP4 Origination and Prepress working group since April 2001. >

and Board of Directors and nominations for elected

JDF Informato Group Launched In Italy

CIP4 member and JDF certified expert Luca Leonardini of Infographic Consultancy has created a new interest group in Italy called "JDF InFormato" which means "JDF Informed." Why? The objective of this initiative is to help companies, providers, consultants to have a better and more qualified understanding of JDF. >
